MURCOTT’S SEASON OPENER – “A WINNER”
Dave Murcott again showed why is regarded as one of Australia’s leading Sprintcar drivers, by cruising to victory in the SRA’s opening round at Avalon Raceway on Saturday night.
Driving the immaculately prepared new JEI for team owners, Parr Motorsports, Murcott’s season debut saw him finish second in points after the qualifying heats. He then proceeded to set “quick time” in the top six dash, securing a front row start in the feature for the V77 machine. From there he was never challenged, winning ahead of Sydney’s Troy Little and Victorian Mike Van Bremen.
“This is a great win for our team, who have worked hard to get me here! To come here tonight and finish in front with a new team and race car is fantastic!! The win gives us all confidence leading into WSS” reflected Murcott after the feature.
Team owner, Adrian Parr shared Murcott’s thoughts “We have all worked tirelessly to be here tonight! We made every effort to allow Dave to run some laps in our new JEI before this evening, only to fall agonisingly short last week for Parramatta! Everybody was a little tense and nervous about tonight proceedings but the guys and Dave chased the setup throughout the evening, nailing it for the dash!! Dave then drove a smart, level headed feature. The team couldn’t ask for anymore from him!!”
The Parr Motorsports team now packs up, ready for the long haul west to start their gruelling WSS campaign!
Parr Motorsports and Dave Murcott would like to thank their valued sponsors for their generous support during the 07/08 season –
